Cuisine for a Cause Wrap Up

April 11, 2017

The ninth annual Cuisine For A Cause is in the books, and we’re happy to report that we raised about $17,000 to support the children of Casa de Misericordia.  It seems clear that our venue for this year – Strongwater Food & Spirits in Franklinton – is a terrific facility and those who attended had a great time.  The money we raised is desperately needed by the orphanage as they struggle to provide food, housing, clothing, medical care, education, and emotional and spiritual care for two dozen neglected, abandoned and abused children.  Children are brought to the orphanage by local police and social services workers, but the government does not provide any funding to help with their care.  Instead, the directors depend on individuals and churches to contribute the necessary support.  Cuisine For A Cause is the largest single fundraiser for the casa, and this year’s proceeds will cover all their expenses for about three months.  On behalf of the children and their caretakers, I say “muchismo gracias y bendiciones para todos!

It is not too late to make a donation to support this important ministry; just visit http://www.kingave.org/missions/cuisine-for-a-cause.html.  Or, consider making a monthly contribution.  Contact the church office for details.  If you have any questions about the orphanage or Cuisine For A Cause, please email cuisineforacause@kingave.org.  In the meantime, thanks for your support and please plan to attend next year for our tenth annual gala!
