King Avenue To Host World-Renowned Bell Choir

Thursday, May 25
7:30pm in the King Avenue UMC Sanctuary

The renowned Westminster Concert Bell Choir from Westminster Choir College will appear at King Avenue UMC on Thursday, May 25 at 7:30 PM in the sanctuary.

Hailed for its virtuosity, the Westminster Concert Bell Choir uses the world’s largest range of handbells – 8 octaves, from C1 to C9. Many of the bells are made of bronze and range in weight from four ounces to 11 pounds; the Choir also uses the large “Basso Profundo” aluminum-cast bells that are a new phenomenon in handbell ringing. e Choir supplements its handbell set with a six-octave set of Malmark Choirchime® instruments from C2 to C8 – the widest range in existence.

Admission to the concert is free; however, a suggested donation of $10.00 will help offset expenses.  Proceeds from the concert will support The Huggins Fund for Ministry With Gay and Lesbian Persons, which recently provided funding for King Avenue to purchase its fifth octave set of handbells and fourth octave set of Choirchimes for the church’s bell ensembles.
