Summer Small Group Book Study:  The Art of Spiritual Listening with Colleen Ogle
Does God seem remote or abstract to you? Do you want to learn to recognize God’s presence in the midst of your daily life?  If so, this summer group may be helpful to you. We will meet select Thursdays through this summer to read and work through the exercises in Alice Fryling’s short book, The Art of Spiritual Listening: Responding to God’s Voice Amid the Noise of Life.  In each of eight sessions, we will focus on one scripture and discuss a different theme.

  • Thursday, June 20 – Listening for God’s Presence, John 4:4-26
  • Thursday, June 27 – Listening for God’s Love, Mark 5:25-34
  • Thursday, July 11 – Listening for God in Scripture, Mark 10:46-52
  • Thursday, July 18 – Listening for God in Times of Doubt, John 20:19-31
  • Thursday, July 25 – Listening for God in Prayer, Ephesians 3:14-21
  • Thursday, August 8 – Listening for God When We Are Busy, Mark 4:35-41
  • Thursday, August 15 – Listening for God in Disappointment, Luke 24:13-35
  • Thursday, August 22 – Listening for God’s Transforming Power, John 5:1-15
In order to prepare for each session, participants will read a scripture and do the exercises in a chapter. There will be about 1 ½ hrs of preparation for each session. The small group will meet in the Chapel from 10-11:30 am.  Colleen will also hold an evening session (7-8:30 pm) as well. Registration closes by June 17.
