Our children are our most impressionable members. It is not just our job to enrich their spirituality; it is our obligation as elders. Each Sunday at 9:45 a.m. our children meet in age-appropriate classes and specially designed and designated rooms. For everyone from infants through teens, we make each Sunday meaningful in a loving environment through art, music and drama.

D.O.R.K.S. – meet in the Teen room downstairs

5th & 6th Graders – meet in the Star Gazing room next to the ramp entrance
   
Preschoolers – 4th Graders – meet in the Camp King Avenue Room, next to the Star Gazing room on the lower level of the church.

Nursery - You are invited to bring your infant and/or toddlers to the 2nd floor every Sunday from 9:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. Carla Kossoudji, our nursery coordinator, encourages and invites qualified volunteers and parents to be a part of our nursery. If you would like to volunteer on Sundays please let her know or contact the church office.

A.W.E. – Awesome Worship Experience for K – 6. Our philosophy has always been that children should be both seen and heard in worship. AWE gives children the opportunity to participate in the first portion of our 11 o’clock worship service. From there, children leave the sanctuary and gather in a special worship setting of their own in the Fireside Room.

 

Children’s Library
If you have been in the hallway across from the Nursery on the third floor or the Children’s Sunday School Rooms on the lower level, you may have noticed new book carts.  These are the start of a new “Children’s Library.” Elizabeth Bridges, the Children’s Librarian, will be setting up a method to allow books to be borrowed and returned in early September.  In the meantime, we are looking for books.  If you are cleaning out your children’s rooms and have gently used books or browsing at the book store and come across your favorite childhood book, please contact the church officeabout making a donation.

 

King Avenue’s Sunday School program is expanding to offer music and drama for children, youth and families.  Sessions are four to six weeks long. Each session concludes with a performance opportunity in worship.  Here’s a look at the offerings for Winter 2008. 
 

Vocal Choir I
Our next session will be a vocal choir, giving our young ones a chance to MAKE A JOYFUL NOISE!  The KAMP session will meet Sunday mornings from 9:30-10:00 a.m. beginning April 13 through May 11.  On Mother’s Day, May 11th  our young singers will present songs during the 11 o'clock service.
