Not to be served, but to serve. (Mark 10:45) Our motivation is to reach out to those who seek to be held by our hands.

Open Shelter Lunches:
On the fourth Tuesday of every month, you are invited to join volunteers in King Avenue’s kitchen to pack lunches for the homeless. The 175 sack lunches are delivered on Wednesday morning to the shelter. This is an excellent opportunity to give back to those less fortunate in our community.

New Life UMC:
King Avenue is dedicated to supporting New Life UMC. Through gifts of volunteers, programming support, advertising and a myriad other avenues we are able to move closer the vision Christ held for his disciples. Our partnership began in 2002 and has been an enriching experience for all.

New Life’s outreach ministries in the community and larger Columbus area continue to grow offering basic necessities, including free breakfast, clothing and the gift of hope to our homeless and impoverished neighbors. Visit New Life United Methodist Church

ESL:
A mission ministry that gives and asks for nothing in return! This free classroom, supported by King Avenue volunteers, is available to those in need every Monday from 7:00-8:30 p.m. in the Centennial Room.

MEALS ON WHEELS:
Each Saturday, a team of our volunteers delivers nutritional meals to the elderly and impoverished throughout the Columbus metro area. To learn more visit Life Care Alliance

ORPHANAGE:
We are grateful to Senior Minister, John Keeny for aligned King Avenue with an orphanage in Piedras Negras, Mexico. We are happy to report that two mission trips have been completed and many more are on the horizon. Read the Casa de Misericordia Newsletter.

NNEMAP:
King Avenue is proud to be an ongoing supporter of our neighborhood food pantry. Our website regularly lists a Need of the Month as well as staple items needed on a continual basis. We appreciate all donations and support.

State Identification Program:
The State Identification Program at King Avenue United Methodist Church provides hope, assistance and a clear tangible illustration that persons and families in need can turn to a community church and know they are cared for and thought of with love and kindness regardless of their economic, social, and religious status.

The program welcomes, honors, and nurtures all people fulfilling the vision Christ held for his church, in turn, creating disciples through civic action and a concern for the well being of all people.

Each Wednesday morning, between 9 a.m. to 12 p.m., persons in need of a state identification card can receive a voucher from the church office that will cover the cost of a state identification card. Persons must have two other forms of identification in order to secure a voucher; ideally, a certified birth certificate and social security card.

Food Vouchers and Bus Passes:
It is always a blessing to be able to help others who are hungry or in need of transportation. From time to time, the office can provide both; a food voucher and a bus pass. Please note: this ministry is limited to the donations made by others.
