Reformation Reflections to Celebrate the 500th Anniversary of the Protestant Reformation
4-weeks-Sundays at 10am, Chapel
Facilitated by Rev. Colleen Ogle

Meeting the four Sundays of November, participants in this class will read aloud together from different excerpts of Martin Luther’s most compelling writings in which he identifies key Reformation ideas, such as salvation by grace alone through faith alone and the priesthood of all believers. October 31st, 2017 marks 500 years since Martin Luther posted his 95 Theses criticizing abuses within the Catholic Church and identifying the Biblical principles behind his critique.  That action set in motion a chain of events known as the Protestant Reformation, which some call the most significant event in western Christianity.  We will discover that Luther, whose words, “Be a sinner, and let your sins be strong, but let your trust in Christ be stronger” shocked the world of his time, still has insights that can strengthen faith today.Video presentations will help put the readings into historical perspective.

No outside reading required and each class will be self-contained.  So come for one or all.
