Scripture Readers/Storytellers

Scripture Readers

The scripture lessons in both of King Avenue’s worship services are read by congregational members.  The reading schedule is done quarterly, and generally a person would read once or twice in that time frame.   The reader receives the texts during the week preceding their Sunday.  Persons of all ages are encouraged to be readers.   To become a scripture reader at King Avenue, please contact John Keeny at jkeeny@kingave.org.

Biblical Storytellers

The storytellers are a group in the congregation that strive to present the Bible texts as they were presented in the first century Church.  Texts are told from memory to the congregation in worship. Such a method makes the Biblical witness more personal and intimate.  Storytellers are usually scheduled to present on the second and fourth Sundays of the month.  The group meets every third Monday at 7pm to study and rehearse the texts for the coming month.  To learn more about Biblical storytelling visit  www.gotell.org.  To learn about becoming a storyteller at King Avenue contact John Keeny at jkeeny@kingave.org.
