The mission of Casa de Misericordia (House of Mercy) is to provide a safe, nurturing, God-centered home for the abused, neglected and homeless children in the northern Mexico city of Piedras Negras.  Since opening in 2005, Casa de Misericordia has seen over 300 children pass through its doors.  The children and caregivers of the orphanage rely on our continued support, as all of their funding comes from contributions from churches and individuals.

Each year, King Avenue UMC hosts a fundraising event to benefit the orphanage.  The name of this event is Cuisine For A Cause, and over the past nine years it has generated about $200,000 for the children of Piedras Negras.  The 2017 event was held on Friday, April 7 at Strongwater Food and Spirits and plans are already underway for our tenth annual gala.
