This November, King Avenue will be making another trip to Casa de Misericordia (House of Mercy) in Piedras Negras, Mexico.  We’ll be sending a team of 12 being led by John Keeny.  Casa de Misericordia is an orphanage that cares for ~35 children whose parents were abusive, neglectful, addicted to drugs and alcohol or in jail.  Our church has sent 4 teams there over the past 1-1/2 years and our support for the orphanage continues to grow.

The Missions Committee members are: John Keeny, Nancy Weese, Jeff Whiteman and myself.  We’ve been working hard outside of our own church walls to generate interest in and support for the orphanage and we’ve made some great progress.

The King Avenue family continues to be very supportive of the orphanage and we’re grateful for that: Our UMW group donated $3000 from its rummage sale earnings. Individual members of our King Avenue family have made financial commitments of $530 each month through the Sponsor a Child program – that’s more than $6000 each year!
