To be admitted to a disaster zone as a relief worker, an individual must be a member of an Early Response Team. Members of an Early Response Team must be trained and certified by the West Ohio Conference. These teams begin their work as soon as the professional have declared the area reasonably secure. The job of the ERT is to make property safe, sanitary and secure and to provide some spiritual aid to the victims. A team of seven to twelve members will be deployed for only four intensive days of work. To field a team of that size on very short notice, thirty to forty trained persons must be on the roster. The next time a disaster occurs; do we at King Avenue want to respond? Do you want to respond? The first local training sessions will be scheduled before the end of the year. To receive information when that schedule is set, please email John Wooden and provide your name and phone number. For questions or more information, call Richard Weese at 488-3424. |
