King Avenue Pride Month

King Avenue PRIDE 2025

A Word from our Pastors

11 pages of our history book are devoted to King Avenue’s status as a Reconciling Ministry. Our commitment to “Open Hearts, Open Minds, and Open Doors” has intentionally focused our ministry for almost 30 years.

Together, we  have celebrated milestones and advances in LGBTQIA+ rights, including the Obergefell decision by the Supreme Court in 2015. We celebrated the halcyon days of clear progress forward.

In 2025, we find ourselves in times when efforts to roll-back rights and protections of LGBTQIA+ individuals, and others for whom our constitution has extended “civil rights” have elevated at all levels—local, state, national.

And so, we invite all who are committed to King Avenue’s ministry of Inclusiveness as God Intends, to join with us as we march on June 14. Pride is a Protest March this year, more than parades in the past. Support our Second Chance Prom, our PRIDE witnesses, and community worship services. Lean in with and for us, as we proclaim God’s love for everyone born—and a place at the table, too.

Looking forward to celebrating and protesting with you!
With love and hope,
Pastors Andy Burns and Karen Muntzing

King Avenue United Methodist Church celebrates Pride Month, and we celebrates YOU as a beloved child of God. We'd love to have you celebrate Pride Month with us. Here are our activities in a nutshell.

June is Pride Month in Worship - 9am and 11am
Each Sunday in June, King Avenue will be celebrating our LGBTQIA+ siblings in worship through music and Pride witnesses. Join us, and bring a friend!

Pride Month Communion
Sunday, June 1

At King Avenue, we celebrate an open table for Holy Communion. If you have ever been denied communion before because of who you are and who you love, we invite you to break bread and drink the juice with us, just as you are. All are welcome around Christ's table! If you are worshiping online, please gather your bread and cup for worship Sunday so we can take communion together.

Pride Tie Dye and Sign Making
Sundays, June 1 & 8 at 10:00 and Noon

We need your help to prepare for the Pride march. We want to show up and show off with tie-dyed t-shirts, protest signs, and a decorated bus. On Sundays June 1 and June 8, we'll have the supplies to make all of that (Bring your own T-shirt or the King Avenue Rainbow Connections T-shirt you purchased). Join us after either worship service in the Fellowship Hall to make signs and bus decorations, and outside the ramp door for tie-dying.

RMN Pride Worship
Friday, June 13 at 7:00pm (at Hilliard UMC)

Reconciling Ministries Pride Worship Service - Let's worship together with other Reconciling United Methodists to get spiritually ready for Pride. June 13, 7pm (the evening before the Pride march) at Hilliard UMC - 5445 Scioto Darby Rd, Hilliard, OH 43026. This is a chance to worship with other United Methodists who believe, as we do, that God loves ALL people, regardless of sexual orientation, gender identity, or any other demographic distinction.
