Is there a better way to connect to the needs and potential of a neighborhood than through its public schools? Is there any more important investment to be made than in the children of the community? The Hubbard Mastery School, located just one mile from King Avenue’s doors, is a newly opened elementary school in the Columbus City Schools (CCS) system. Susan McGeean, the principal of the 330-student school, is eagerly reaching out to the community for partners to support the children’s education and King Avenue UMC is stepping up to join the cause! One need the school has is for Reading Buddies, adults trained to read one-on-one with children using techniques that encourage good reading practices.
