It's a New Day in the United Methodist Church!

United Methodist General Conference in Charlotte NC wraps up on Friday after 10 days.

We could not be more delighted in the results — in the words of Bill Brownson from last Sunday, ""They are all going in the direction King Avenue has hoped for."" And so they have. The word and sentiment of incompatibility is no more.

This is a new day in The United Methodist Church!

This is a fresh opportunity for King Avenue UMC to recommit to our mission and mandate to make disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world.

Decades ago, we opened our doors with intention, especially to welcome LGBTQIA+ persons practicing inclusiveness as God intends. We continue to live that value day by day by day, perhaps with renewed vigor, passion, and courage. We act ourselves into a new way of being so we will continue to work on radical hospitality, growing in faith and mission, and helping to create a place for healing for all people — welcoming, honoring, nurturing, and inviting all. We heal best in community, and we truly need each other to survive.

This Sunday we'll hear from people who were in the room where it happened.

We hope you'll be with us as we sing some of our most powerful songs, hear a word from Pastor Andy Burns, and receive Holy Communion at our shared table where we'll be fed and nourished so that we can feed  and nourish the world, in Christ's name.

Come as we worship together, digest the Good News, and celebrate together. We hope to see you at King Avenue United Methodist Church on Sunday, May 5 at 9am or 11am.
